David_Gill_iris_yellow_burgundyDavid and Kris Gill opened their business in Lawton in 1987 and did their first art show the following year. They use their combined skills and talent to do about15 to 20 art shows per year.

Between art shows, Kris, who earned her “Certified Picture Framer” designation in 1988, concentrates on the framing portion of the business. Kris was the second in the state of Oklahoma to pass the test. Kris and her framing employees bring almost 30 years of combined framing experience to the business, so you can be assured you get the highest quality workmanship, and you also get excellent advice based on experience when it comes to framing options and choices.

A former professional baseball player with the Houston Astro’s/Colt .45’s organization. John has always had an interest in art but decided to try making a living as a professional athlete. After three baseball seasons a shoulder injury ended his career.
Next John worked for an electric utility company and during that time revived his interest in art by developing a passion for photography. John is a past president of the “Professional Photographer’s of America” guild of the Rio Grande Valley. During this time John had a Wedding and Portrait photography business. Interested in all facets of photography John soon began photographing wildlife and nature. Through his photographs, John enjoys sharing his vision of the beauty in nature surrounding us all and the need for habitat conservation for all wildlife. John has had several winning photographs in the prestigious Valley Land Fund’s Wildlife Photography Contest as well as other photographic awards.

I’ve been taking photographs for almost 40 years, primarily nature, landscapes and travel. I grew up in New Jersey next to a National Wildlife Refuge, inspiring a lifelong interest in birds, nature and photography, and moved to the Tulsa, Oklahoma  area in 1982. Recent trips to Italy have inspired me to also begin photographing ancient architecture and images of faith. In 2009 I began selling my work as fine art prints.

Are these paintings or photographs? Everything in my booth is a photo, most printed on stretched canvas and gallery wrapped, meaning the image wraps around the edges. I never use any of the digital tools that convert a photograph to a “painting”. The exact same images are also for sale as “normal” matted prints. The combination of the canvas texture and the wrapped sides produces the depth you notice. Of course, it’s essential to start with a sharp, well-lit image!
